
Dr. Alan Glazier is the owner and founder of Shady Grove Eye & Vision Care. Dr. Glazier holds a B.S. from the University of Maryland and a Doctorate from the New England College of Optometry. He is a longstanding member of the Maryland Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and Diplomate, American Board of Optometry. He is the founder, CEO and inventor of core technology patents of Vision Solutions Technology, a company with a novel implantable lens that benefits people suffering from macular degeneration. In 1998, his peers selected Dr. Glazier as the Maryland Young Optometrist of the Year. In 2011 and 2012, Dr. Glazier was selected as one of the most influential optometrists in the US by the VisionMonday organization. Dr. Glazier is a frequent podium lecturer at national eye industry conventions and is a published author. Dr. Alan Glazier's patient care interests include specialty contact lenses, orthokeratology and treatment of dry eyes.

Dr. Lauren Rubin grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland in the town of Potomac. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from The University of Michigan. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the SUNY (State University of New York) School of Optometry in 2000. Dr. Rubin moved back to Maryland and worked with laser vision correction centers for 7 years. She started her practice in Rockville in 2009. She is active in the community, and regularly supports the American Red Cross as a blood donor. In her spare time Dr. Rubin loves to run, read and relax with her family.

Dr. Mahtab Vaziri is a graduate of George Mason University received her doctorate from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. Dr. Vaziri practices comprehensive family eye care with an emphasis on dry eye management and also performs exams in fluent Farsi. She is also an expert in treating red and dry eyes with the latest technologies available such as the LipiFlow. Dr. Vaziri is a member of the American Optometric Association. In 2011, she was named one of the top 20 TLC Doctors in North America.

Dr. Vicky Wong is a graduate of Elizabethtown College in central Pennsylvania, graduating early with a Biology Pre-medicine concentration. Dr. Wong then received her optometric doctorate from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale, FL with the distinction of Gold Key Honor Society induction. She completed an additional residency at the Lexington VA Medical Center affiliated with the University of Kentucky with a special emphasis in Low Vision and Ocular Disease management. Dr. Wong is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and also performs exams in fluent Chinese. Dr. Wong is a member of the American Optometric Association, Maryland Optometric Association, and Vision Rehabilitation Section.

Dr. Summerfield is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist who practices General Ophthalmology at Shady Grove Eye and Vision Care on select days. Dr. Summerfield is a graduate of Emory University and earned his Medical Degree with honors at University of Maryland. Dr. Summerfield's interests as an eye surgeon have led him to specialize in cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Summerfield's approach is to provide each and every patient with individualized and personalized education and care, so that all patients can achieve their vision correction goals. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. Dr. Summerfield loves his family and spends his time with them when he is not with his patients. He and his wife Yael have two children, Jack and Ava, and a chocolate lab, Abby. The Optometrists and staff work closely with Dr. Summerfield on difficult and/or surgical cases and are very excited about his addition to our SGEVC family!
